Business Profile :Dr. Michael J Freestone. B.Comm. Hons. FCIBM. FCIS. DBA.

Michael has been crafting Business and Strategic Plans to a multi sectoral business community 1984 when he left the corporate sector. He started a formal Consulting Practice in 1991 which has taken him to many African countries as well as Boston (USA) and London and Guildford in the UK.

He has started up Greenfield business in the DRC, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Namibia, Malawi, Mozambique, Lesotho and South Africa for Clients who over the years have become solid friends.

Michael has been the Managing Director of the East Africa Operations for an Anglo American subsidiary in Malawi, Managing Director for a Film Production company in South Africa, Managing Director of the second largest Medical Aid Group in South Africa. He has sat on the Council of Medical Schemes Board as an advisor and was jointly responsible for setting up the first Managed Care Medial Aid Fund in Africa. He has been the Financial Director of an Agricultural company with turnover in excess of R600 million in 1984. He started his career as a financial clerk in the Construction Industry and within six months was the Chief Accountant for the largest Harbour Construction site in the world at Richards Bay, built by an overseas consortium. He went on to be the Finance and Administration Manager for the Sasol 2 and 3 Project built by Fluor International. Michael was the Business principles Manager at Anglo Platinum responsible for all Policy and Procedure in the Group as well as acting as Vice Chair of the Anglo IT committee which had the task of installing SAP to its 4500 users. Due to his success he was asked by the Chairman to restructure the Anglo Platinum Property division which had assets of R6.5 Billion.

During the many years of consulting Michael has developed over 500 Business Plans, in almost every single business sector, of which he proudly says “Have worked”.
