General Background

Aslam Lallmahomed was born in Mauritius in 1958. In 1982 he came to South Africa and started working in the ceramics and marble industry for the Ferreira’s Group. In 1987 he joined B&Stiles and Sanitaryware, where he was responsible for imports from Italy and Spain, and was also responsible for the marketing and selling of these products.

In 1993 Aslam opened his own company, specialising in importing and trading with various African countries. He was part of the team that took the South African delegation to the Congo Brazaville government, and dealt directly with the president in this regard.

In 2006, along with the deputy prime minister and minister of finance of Mauritius, he assisted the board of investment of Mauritius to identify prominent businessmen in South Africa to invest in Mauritius.

He has twenty seven years experience in dealing with the importing of construction materials for the South African market. Internationally, he has dealt with countries such as Dubai, Brazil, Thailand and India to name a few.
